Found a new 2001 cannibal for $6,000 at a local dealership. It has the Ohlins and braided lines. Is that a good price?

Thanks. The salesman didnt seem to know anything about the quad, other than the price. They sell Suzuki and Yamaha also. He said they used to be a C-Dale dealer but cancled it because of "lack of sales". I "love" going into a shop a getting bullshitted by a salesman on a quad, what a joke. It was the first time I have seen one in person, I was impressed. Judging by the other post I have seen it must be a good price?

Sounds like an excellent price, is it a demo unit or something? Get the vin number off the quad. Look at the start/stop buttons on the left side of the handle bars. Does it have a slide bar for the stop or are there 2 round buttons, one green and one red. This will tell you which computer it has, if it has the slide style stop switch, it's the new ECM1000 computer, if you have the 2 round buttons, it's the old style ECM500 computer. It could be one of the refurbished units that Cannondale is offering to dealers. Those are selling to the dealers for $5000, then the dealers may or may not mark the prices up.

The salesman didn't know anything about the quad other than the price, what an a@#hole he is!! Get the vin number and post back what it is.
So since the salesman is so brain dead, can he answer a question whether it's a new unit/demo unit or even will have a full 6 month warranty!

It had the 2 round buttons. I’m pretty sure they used it as a demo because the tires were worn from riding in the parking lot apparently.

if the ecu(engine control unit) is a sagem 1000 its a great price
jump on it!
if its a sagem 500 i probably would pass on it simply because i dont know enough about it(there are other riders in this forum who can give you more info on the
sagem 500)
also check to see if it has the reinforced swingarm and magura hyd.clutch
mine doesnt have these items so i dont miss them but if the one your looking at does its a home run...write the check...

I don't know about the swing-arm, but it does not have the hydraulic clutch.

OK, since it has the 2 round buttons, that means it has the old computer. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing but you are limited with what you can do with the maps on it as compared to the new ECM1000 computer. I believe the new computer and aftermarket fuel injection system on the "newer" cannibals is more reliable as well.
Call Kyle or Carey at R&S Performance regarding the differences between the 2 computers, advantages, disadvantages.

So the $6K may not be that great of a price now, you can buy the refurbished cannibals with full warranties for $5K and higher from participating dealers and those may also have the new computers.
