I'm stumped. I let my Speed sit for over 2 weeks while waiting for my shock upgrade and now it won't start. I changed the plug and it wasn't fouled. It appears that there is no fuel getting to the plug. Pump works and fuel can be seen returning to the tank as I try and start it. Plug sparks but is bone dry. Could injectors be clogged? Anyone else ever have this problem? Thanks..........

My money is on low voltage. It may turn over but the computer doesnt have enough juice.

Low voltage, charge the battery and try again.

<< there is no problem with the battery, its fully charged >>

....must be the shock upgrade then...lol....

Seriously though, give the battery a charge overnight. You might think it is charged, might crank over the motor, but you would be amazed how many of us thought our battery was charged only to find an overnight trickle takes care of the problem. Think about it, nothing changed in the 2 weeks your Speed sat. Do you have fuel filling up the fuel filter? If you can see fuel in their after the fuel pump kicks on, then try to charge the battery for the heck of it. My Speed just sat for 3 weeks while I ugraded my axle, shocks, etc and I trickle charged it every 3 days just to be safe. It started on the first push of the start button......JIM

yeah my money is on the batt. yeah it would take more then two weekd for the gass to turn to varanish in the injectors.
peace

It's not the battery, I did charge it overnight and even had a booster charge on while I was attempting to start it. The fuel filter doesn't fill up but the return line in the tank gushes pretty good. If the filter was clogged wouldn't the return be slowed? I'm gonna go a get a bunch of fuel filters and try that.

If your filter doesnt have gas in it I would check fuse or faulty fuel pump. good luck.

speedfreek440 Jun 19, 2002 02:40 PM

It has some fuel in it, just not filled to the top. The pump seems to be fine, the return fuel line gushes out fuel like crazy into the tank. Just isn't getting to the plug. If I dump a little fuel into the cylinder it fires right away. I'm begining to suspect the injectors more and more. This sucks, my dealer is 2 hours away.

Alaska400EX Jun 19, 2002 02:52 PM

No, the fuel filter won't fill totally up; maybe about halfway. If your fuel pump is running when you turn on the switch to prime the system you should be getting fuel. I have a question, do you run fuel additives at all? There was a bulletin about not running aftermarket octane boosters, etc as they will hurt the o-rings in the fuel system....just a chance that is what it is. JIM
