electric fuel pump won't shut off

i went to the track yesterday and was airing the black bull out. after loading the bull up to leave i noticed the electric fuel pump was still pumping. the gas in the fuel filter was about a quarter of the way empty and fresh fuel was continuesly flowing into the filter. as you could imagine, the battery was dead when i arrived home. while i was at home i noticed the black connector next to the fuel pump and wiggled it. the fuel pump shut off but i don't know if it was from the connector or the battery being dead. anyone had any experiences like this? one more thing, this black bull absolutly ripped at the track. i hit some four gear doubles and it flew with like a bird. i cain't wait till my new suspension comes in. i had to limit my jumping to jumps with smooth landings. the stock shocks bottom out very easily. i was very impressed with the power, i could putt through a turn in third gear and just hit the gas and away i went. lol

I believe there is a TB for this problem. Do both of the connectors on the fuel pump have shielding on them? If not you need to shield them with some heat shrink tubing, or you could just take it to the dealer and have the TB performed. One of those connectors will run the fuel pump if it comes into contact with ground, which is very easy without the sheilding.

are you using anything to keep your battery charged? i have a little 2 amp charger i'm going to use to recharge my battery tonight. how long should this take? don't want to ruin my new battery.

JayBR is right about the update, check to see if it's done on yours. I had the same problem and the dealer had to replace the ECU. On mine the pump stayed on after i shut it off and remove the key. The only way to get it to quit was to disconnect the battery or remove the fuse. I would charge the battery do the update and if the pump still comes on and stays on then it needs the ECU to be replaced.

Your best bet is to take it to a dealer and tell them what it is doing and have them fix it. Even if it stops pumping I would still do the bulletin update. Better safe than sorry. Check to make sure all battery and fuel pump connections are tight.

I haven't had any problem with my battery staying charged, but I do have a charger that I use on other batteries from time to time.

does your charger have an auto setting? In auto mode it should charge it up then shut off. If not, with a 2 amp charge you could probably run it for days without hurting it, I'm sure overnight will be OK.

My charger has both, I have left it on batteries at 2 amp for 2-3 days with no problem.

check out SB02-010

You can do it yourself in the time it takes to load the quad in the truck. I'd just get the boot from a dealer and install it myself, they will probably even mail it to you if it's more convienient.

Of course my closest dealer is 2 hours away, so I do everything myself.
