And I did not say it was legal in every national park, PA is the only one i know for sure. Each state holds different laws for their national park ATV trails.

Thanks Scooter. Rule 13 strictly prohibits carrying a passenger on an ATV that wasn't made for one. I was hoping someone could answer this.

I got a response back from the Rangers that run Wayne National Forest about riding double. Turns out it is allowed, just like PA. I'll print this email off and keep it in the quad in case I'm ever asked by a ranger patrolling the trails.

See Chad's answer below. I guess if your situation complies with what he's saying - you're good.

Teena,

This is a common question and we typically respond by telling them that if the vehicle is designed by the manufacturer to carry more than one rider, then it is legal. Additionally, if the manufacturer designed an aftermarket passenger seat specifically for the vehicle they are riding, then it would be legal as well.

Never heard of aftermarket seats. Would this qualify under the Wayne regs?

I was wondering if it is legal to ride with a passenger on my atv? I know PA requires me to put an aftermarket seat specifically made for riding with a passenger on the atv. The manufacturer of the seat makes it specifically for this purpose. I didn't know if Ohio is the same? Thanks in advance,

Brad Fisher

If the manufacturer of your ATV designed a passenger seat for it then it's legal.

As far as I know no ATV manufacturer makes an add on passenger seat so you still can't ride double on a one-up ATV.
