I live about 30 minutes from the Sylmar fire, but the smoke and ash makes it seem like the fire is next door...

I have friends and family in Big Bear and they are being evacuated. I have another friend with a $1million+ house in Arrowhead...doesn't know it will remain standing long. And the smoke and ash and crap sucks something horrible! Hope it's over soon.

I just saw on MSNBC where a couple survived by staying in there swimming pool and ducking and coming up for air till the fire passed. There house is gone. Then when the fire blew over and they got out of the pool they saw a car just down there road that had burned and there was 2 bodies in the vehicle.

I saw that too, down in San Diego. It's getting uglier by the minute. I know four people that have now been evacuated and they all live in different areas! The winds are starting to kick up where I live....that's not a good sign.

Some of the best riding areas in the mountains are in great danger!! We won't see these mountains the same again in our life time. Look at areas that have burned. The trees just don't come back. It turns to desert.

Wiley Coyote lives in Running Springs which is very threatened. I am sure he has evacuated. A friend who live in Oak Hills (top of Cajon Pass) left his home last night. Even the fire fighters wouldn't stay because they said it was so dangerous!! Nothing they could do. They said they expect it will burn all the way to Victorville.
