Default deer/elk/bear/moose rifles

Wow, I happen to have both of those guns. Reliable and good shooting. My 742 was my grandpas and what I started hunting with. I have a little less power scope with brake-away mounts, use it for real woodsy type hunting. My 7400 has a top line Leupold for longer range hunting. In all the years I've only had one problem, that was with the 7400. Friend has 300 ultra-mag, great gun and he love it to death (me to, I want one).

You wouldn't want a 300 ultra-mag semi-auto. Bolt is more accurate and give you full power of your shells. If you want to stop a MONSTER charging you, carry a large caliber sidearm, or a big knife ( a K-Bar works good).

Good Luck

I like big caliber rifles and revolvers with heavy recoil and lots of power. The largest buck I have shot was an 11 pointer that weighed 205lbs dressed out. It measured 140 pts

The world record weight for a deer, is 450 i think, and i like big calibers to with recoil, and that have good quality parts, not like the etronx, remington rifle that is ran by a 9 volt battery.

would not trust that in the woods, even though its pretty snazy..
