What do you guys use when riding in dusty places? When we ride on the logging roads, the dust sometimes is so thick its like a giant glass of chocolate milk.

I have been using a Bandana underneath my helmet, it works ok, however I am looking for something better.

I always ride wearing a 3M dust mask like what the sheetrockers wear.

Yep, I agree with the second post, just be first! But if that is not possible, go with a dust mask. They are cheap, and work good to keep the crap out of your lungs.

Thanks, Its hard to be first when we are doing a club ride, 20-30 quads at a time. I usually stay in the back with my kid, waiting for him to get stuck so I can push him out.

My main riding buddy has a 400EX, & I am NEVER first.

LOL

First is great, but I'm normally last. I might have the fastest ride, and might not, but I normally ride last.

It makes sense, I'm not afraid of getting a little lost, I've rode the trails a little bit, and I don't worry about being behind like some folks. SO I ride last, if anyone breaks down/gets stuck, I can get them out. My ATC is light enough that when it gets stuck I can push it out, as is the 110 quad I otherwise ride.

I let those who really know the trail go first, I bring up the rear, and if someone strays I put them back on track. (Not really a problem where I ride, but in snowy mountains you risk going off a cliff if you stray from the trail) And if the rest of the riders don't notice we are gone until 6 turns and several miles I generally have a good idea how to catch up once we are all back moving on the right trail.

My solution to the dust problem is to slow down until I'm way back. I suppose if I was riding with 25 others that wouldn't work though, we'd be miles apart.

One of the best products I bought for around $10 was a snowmobile accessory.

I'm not sure of the technical name for it...but it is a half mask that covers the nose area... Kind of like a mask used for painball except this does not hook to the goggles. The mask is vented and velcros to the inside of you helmet for quick removal. And flushes with a soft material against your face. On nice hot days...breathing can get a bit muggy...but at least your not sucking in all that dust.... Another nice trick is to use a small piece of foam over the vents on the helmet.
Yes, this can get warm and stuffy...But it is really nice in the winter. But then again...dust is usually not a problem in the snow either.

Just a few Ideas... good luck.
