i just reinstalled Windows Xp, lost all my files =( and i cant find my taskbar and my start menu. how do i get it to show up?? please help ASAP!!

 

comeon, please help!!!! i lost EVERY file on my computer!!

 

Click on your my computer icon, then at the top left of the window it says system tasks, under sytem tasks there is an option, change a setting, click on that, it should bring you to the control panel window. In the control panel window there's a bunch of icons, find the task bar and startmenu icon, click on that. That will bring you to the options for the task bar and start menu. Check the boxes nessesary to show the task bar etc. Hope that helps.

 

i have gotten that far already, i try clicking on it and it doesnt open up...=(

 

LOL, once you click on the my computer icon, under the heading other places you can get to the control panel there by clicking on control panel. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif[/img]

You most likely didn't lose any files but since you have no task bar etc it's kinda hard to find them. You should be able to go to your C drive at the my computer icon and see all your files are still there.

 

Are you double clicking?

 

yes, and i lost all my files, i checked my docs, and the C drive

 

Hmm, that's very strange. Sorry I can't help you out. I'm no computer wiz, took me a sec to figure out how to do what I suggested but you already did all that. Could try and reinstall windows again but you still may not get your lost files back, maybe you could just restore your old operating system did you keep that option during the windows install?
