I took my Wolverine out in the snow the other night for the 1st time. We got about 4" of very heavy wet snow.
Needless to say, I had a blast. Sure it's not as fast as a snowmobile, and doesn't carve like one. But I had fun none the less. It was the 1st time that I was able to do a doughnut. I am able to kick the back end out on the dirt trails, but the full time 4wd makes it about impossible to do doughnut on dry land. The quad went through the snow with no problem, except that the front tires push when you turn, causing you to use a lot of body english to get it headed in the proper direction. I still have the stock tires on it and am considering studding them for riding on the ice. The only other problem was that the snow build up between the pegs and the rear fender was so heavy that I would have to stop and clean it off or my feet would keep on sliding off the pegs. (The Wolverine has terrible mud/snow protection for the rider) |
If there is a little ice underneath of the snow, I can turn doughnuts with my Xplorer in 4wd so that the inner front tire doesn't move more than 6 inches or so once it starts going around. THAT is fun. Takes a little practice to get the throtle/steering just right. Neat sensation, feels like the whole bike is pivoting around the gas cap rather than the rear end swinging around.

x250rdude,
Here is the type of roost you should expect! This is a pic of my friend Josh, from last winter. www.uslink.net/~philzie/joshsnowyroost.jpg |

Ain't it tho? Believe it or not that is with Turf Tamers! I have yet to duplicate such an awesome display. I try though!

Once there`s a little snow around here I`ll play in the driveway or street. The best donuts are in 4wd. You can make that front tire sit right in one spot don`t go too fast though the G`s might throw you off.
Love that roost !!! 98 Scrambler 500 00 Trailblazer 250 |
