We encourage higher learning around here; especially when the degree is in racing quads!

The Prez is aiming to raise tariffs on goods coming out of China but Polaris's CEO says this could mean very big trouble no matter where your machine is made:

Just shows how much crap we buy is Chinese...that is a pity...what if we had to rely on our own country for everything? If we stopped supporting all these countrys we could afford to take care of our own. We pay China to use and buy our products...not fair to us taxpayers! Let the tarrifs begin!

I was thinking something along the same lines. If American companies didn't keep shipping American jobs to China, any tariffs that Trump wanted to raise wouldn't affect them.

The line between truck and SxS is getting narrower by the moment. Don't take out word for it, check this out:

Yes, these monster size UTV might as well be trucks or jeeps. A max size should be determined to be a legal UTV, anything larger to be a truck or other similiar name. We have adopted 50" for atv so why not a 60 or 62" max width for utv, any wider is a vehicle. I have saw many cases of 70" wide side x side stuck on a 50" wide trail and no one else can get thru! Cant rely on common sense as to few people know how to use it!

I worked in a little factory as a college student that was "developing" a 6 wheeled amphibious "all terrain vehicle" for hunters. It was suppose to be the cat's meow for duck hunters and the like. It started out with a 12 hp 4 stroke Tecumseh engine which was not good. It had a "dual path" transmission with the input shaft and two output shafts. It was operated with two "sticks" like a skid steer. The business owner fitted a 2 stroke snowmobile engine to the machine and it was completely transformed. It was then fun to operate and rather smoky. Just like now, power sells!

This was 1971. I think the Swamp Fox was an early ATV, although likely not the first ATV in the market. Here is a URL of a couple pictures of the Swamp Fox. I don't think very many were made. This is my entry into the ATV industry history database!

Funny how I did not have any interest in ATVs at all back then, but now I do. Maybe now that I'm retired I see the ATV as a "way out" as Polaris used to say.

Nice...I always had dirt bikes , then street bikes. One of my friends got a Yamaha tri moto. First time I rode it, I somehow managed to run over my leg with it. It was a blast in the snow but other than that... scary to ride

It seems like tariffs are the talk of the industry no matter where you look. This time there's one that would double the cost of equipment and parts from European nations. Stranger still, it was designed to target the aircraft industry but we may end up paying if it passes. There's still time to take action though - we just want the government to detach the off-road industry from the proposed new tax. We have the story and step by step here:
