My husband and I were out riding today - he has a 2000 Yamaha Bear Tracker and I have a 2001 Honda Recon. We usually go out for the day - strap on a bunch of gear and we are gone from morning till past dark. Anyhow, we have just finished a long ride and we head up to these sand pits that have a great view of the surrounding towns. As we approach, we see three sport bikes (two Banshee's and a Blaster I think) tearing around the pits. So we decide to hang low and let them play without bothering them. As we pull off the main trail and have a drink, we watch them taking the jumps and climbing hills. We have seen this trio before - none are registered (which ticks me off, but hey, I am not the police so whatever)and each time we have pulled off the trail so they can cruise the pits, but they seem to make it a point to ride too close and spray dirt. We figure, they are just kids (probably in thier late teens, early 20's) and just don't know any better so we ignore them. Tonight though, as we are off the trail and far away from the pits, they come flying at us, not 5 feet away from us at top speed - TWICE!! What are people thinking when they do that stuff?? That is how people get killed. I just wish that people would use some common sense before riding like a**holes! I adree 100% people like that gives ATV's a bad name!!!!
I ride hard but when I get close to some one else I slow down and wave...
and young people like that give teenagers a bad Rep.

i'm 16 and i see people with ATV's do this all the time. IT PISSES ME OFF! why can't these people be more mature? when i see people like that i can understand why farmers, and tree huggers, and cops get pissed at quads. i've gotten kicked out of the 2 best riding areas i've ever seen because of people abusing things. one was this huge set of trails and fields where some kid did donuts in the farmers field. now they got cops on quads patroling that place my friend got a 75 dollar ticket for riding there. the other one was a big sand pit, and there was abother one next to it fenced off because people still mine there or whatever and people would knock the fence down with their quads and mess everything up over there! now we got cops patrolling that place all day too. i bet they have lots of fun too..just that huge riding area all to themselves...maybe i should be a cop lol.

I hate people like that too. Around here, not many people are like that, but some are. They ride around on the highway(well, its kinda a highway), rip up peoples yards, smash mail boxes, ect.. Anyway, I hope those people get caught. Up here, if you get caught riding on the road its like a $500 fine and another $1200 to get your ride out of impound.

Anyway, I hope you have a better time on your next ride.

from what you say it's the same people doing this time and time again ....my 2 cent's ......bring a camera with you and take a photo of them and make a report with the local police..

I would love to leave them alone, in fact if you read my original post we were doing just that when they felt the need to harass us. And, you will also notice that I did nothing, other than post my frustration at the idiocy and immaturatity that is expressed in the dangerous and unsafe riding habits of these childish riders. I can't imagine that anyone would think that riding at top speed not 5 feet away from someone is a bright idea - what happens if they hit a rock - they could have killed me or themselves. It only takes a second... think before you ride, and if a stunt could injure someone other than yourself, don't do it.

well knowing how people are if you do say somethin to them their only gonna think its funny and they'll probably just keep doin it more. and since your on 4x4's and their on their sport wuad they figure theres nothin you can do to them. so the only think i can think of is letting the air out of their tires (don't cut em!! just let it out through the thing) and they probably won't even stop so that wouldn't work. your probably just gonna have to put up with those dick heads.

i have a similur problem i illegally ride now because people closed down the biggest riding place in ohio becuase 4x4s would go back and dump trash and/or beer bottles and stuff its people like thst that ruin a good thingits people like that that ruin a good thing
