i have used them for years in our race cars and no reason they should not work in tha quad. they make a clicking noise when the go around turns if the power is not on.

If anything I have questions.

Is your bike easy to steer on hard pack and does click going around corners?

Does it disengage when you want to as in 2-wheel drive?

Was it hard to istall, did you do it yourself or did you have a dealer do it?

Also if you did yourself were the instructions clear and precise?

One of the most important questions is the exsense and was it worth it?

I have 27in. Super Swampers on my Honda, do you think the unit can handle the extra load excerted on the new diff?

Well that should just about do it and cover almost all I can think of thank you for any information you can give.

You do have questions!!!

1. Is your bike easy to steer on hard pack and does click going around corners?
-Yes it is still easy to steer on hard pack. The locker is designed to allow for easier steering than a traditional locker. It does this by allowing a tire to be pushed faster than the other by the ground, but never allowing a tire to go slower than the engine. It does not click when turning or cornering.

2. Does it disengage when you want to as in 2-wheel drive?
-I personally dont have 2wd, but I have riden with the locker on a 450 that had 2wd (via the High Lifter Unlocker). When in 2wd it is like its not there at all. I was very surprised.

3. Was it hard to istall, did you do it yourself or did you have a dealer do it?
-I invited a friend over and we did all the work. Basically you take both front tires off, disconnect the ball joints ($16 puller from AutoZone) and slide the axles out. Then remove the diff and open it up. By far the hardest part was torqueing the bolts inside the differential. this is because you are turning the torque wrench and the differential is trying to turn with you. After an hour of 2 college grads acting like cavemen, we finally put a c-clamp on it and held it with that. (yes it took us an hour for that solution )

4. Also if you did yourself were the instructions clear and precise?
-The instructions were great. There is a photograph (not drawing) for every step along the way.

5. One of the most important questions is the exsense and was it worth it?
-As far as expense goes this is a personal question. I personally love mud and live to ride it. With 28 inch Outlaws on, the Honda differential stinks and gives me 3wd and sometimes 1wd when in deep ruts. For me I wanted true 4wd all the time and it was worth it. For someone who rides 90% trails this would probably not be the best thing to buy since they wont see the benefits all the time.

6. I have 27in. Super Swampers on my Honda, do you think the unit can handle the extra load excerted on the new diff?
-The unit itself will handle your tires just fine. It will put some extra strain on your as now it will always be trying to turn ALL 4 tires no matter what.

By all means let me know if you have further questions.

We did a pretty good trail/mud ride today. Locker works wonders in the mud. I was still able to steer one handed like I normally do on the trails.

Thanks for the information sounds like a winning solution to Honda's 3-wheel drive. I have a 450 ES and going through muskeg can be a real treat when all wheels are not created equal. I plan on purchasing this locker unit this spring as soon as we get out of this deep freeze we are having. If you still have mud you must be close to a banana belt. In Alberta I haven't experienced any -30 or -40 stuff this January which we usually have had by this time of year.

I also plan on installing a 2inch lift and some smoother riding shocks on the old girl. Cheeper than purchasing a new space aged RINCON, I can just imagine the cost of that baby when it arrives.
Thanks again Txmud keep the shiny side up.
