How to make a generator quiet?
#12
Putting the right kind of muffler/ mufflers/ extensions on your generator will make a difference. Just because someone puts a large car muffler, why not a Peterbuilt, on a small generator doesn't mean it will make it run quieter! Muffler's work with back pressure and sound deadening materials. They make add-on mufflers, for your atv, to install after your original muffler, that quite the machine up to 50% of original. Can also be done with a generator. There is mechanical noise that you won't be able to silence, but you can still make a difference if it's done PROPERLY!

I sold my 5500watt generac generator for noise reasons. I got tired of digging holes, building sound barriers, dragging it 400yrds from camp, etc.
I bought a Honda EU2000i and super super happy with it. It is so quiet that I can let it run right next to my Weekend Warrior and barely hear it running, even while sleeping. It will run 13+ hours on one gallon of gas so I let it run all night without it disturbing anyone. It will power my airconditioner, microwave, and air compressor (not all at the same time though). It was well worth the $950!!!
