Guys,
Has anybody dyed the webbing on their nerf bars? I want to go from blue to black, but was hoping for some good advice on how to do this and what to use. Thanks for you input. RoostKing... |
I have done it before and it's real easy. I used a dye called "RIT". You can find it at any supermarket in the detergent aisle, I usually find it around the clotheslines. I did a carpet for a car also, from blue to black. The directions are on the back of the box and you can do it right on the stove in the house. Just be careful not to get the water too hot, you may end up melting the webbing. Just put the dye in the pot with hot water and let it dissolve, toss in the webbing stir it around and let it soak real good and pull it out, if you have any spots that don't look right, do it again. Later...

There's also a dye that you use in the washer which might be easier to use with all that webbing. I can't recall the name of it but I used it to dye two different photographer's vests, one brown and one grey. they've been washed many times & still look the same. The stuff should be in the same place as the other brand. Oh, and this brand won't stain the washer, either
