aftermarket heat shields
i have a honda 300EX and with my new pipe it runs hot as heck. i don't know if anybody else has had this problem with the E-series pipes but i do. i've already melted a hole in my new riding pants. i took my quad to a welder who made an extension to my heat sheild so that my pants don't touch the head pipe. but it's no enough! does anybody know of a company that makes bigger, better heat sheilds? i don't want a stock replacement, i want something that's bigger.

Cro,
You might consider getting with someone that has a CNC machine and making your own. That what I did a few years ago and even sold a lot of them. If you make one for yourself, you can make a production run and sell them on EBAY. Just a thought .... Picture of the one I made here. I dont make them anymore, just FYI incase anybody wants to start sending me emails again! Marky |

hey thanx. i don't know ne body that has a CNC machine, but i do know a guy that can make ne thing u want out of metal. also, the stock heat sheild has holes in it. would it be better to make one without holes? and should i make it out of steel? and is thicker better? thanx for the info.

also, if i chrome it, will the chrome be ok, even with all the heat?

Chrome is ok in the heat - but too hot and it turns a little blue. But I would think with a heat shield it would be fine. Have fun with it! If you get something that looks good - put them on ebay!
