Honda Cr500 motor versus suzuki quadzilla 500?
KGB, Honda quit making the CR-500 in 2001 so your buddies motor could not be an 2003 not that it matters because Honda left the motor alone from 91-01 anyway. About the vibration question when in the correct frame the CR-500 vibration is not a problem I know this first hand as I have both a 00 CR-500 bike and a 1986/1987 CR-500 Trike drag bike that does have 85+ HP on gas. Now I can ride the bike for an hour with no hand numbing and as far as the Trike goes it uses the 87 CR-500 frame so vibration is not a problem at all. Where vibration comes into play is when the motor is put in a frame that was not designed for that motor the same would hold true with the LT-500 in a Honda frame for example. We have seen several CR-500, KX-500's in 250 frames that just vibrate so bad your teeth hurt but that is because of the frame and not the motor and the way the frame transfers the vibration . As for the LT500 vs. the CR-500 the CR has more potential for modification and is bulletproof as compared to the LT because the LT was famous for eating cranks. KGB we go to Sand Mountain 2-3 times a month but I don't think I have ever seen the Suzuki it sounds interesting though.

I said I own a CR500 dirtbike, never said it was a quad.I figured the vibration from it wouldn't be any worse in the quad considering theres a steering stem that is cusioned by bushings, where as a dirtbike has the most direct vibration from the steering head with no dampening effect because all thats there is ball bearings and clamps.
Why would it be so much worse?I just trying to figure out why.
Honestly its not really bad at all on the dirtbike. The only dirtbike that really killed me was my YZ490.That bike vibrated so bad, crap was alwas coming loose. So I ditched it for the CR.
I can see by your enormous amount of posts that you must be a bad *ss rider,I could only dream of the machines that you have ridden during your life time.I would never imply that my nuts are bigger than yours,I don't have the ***** to ride bad *ss quads like that,So I'll just stick to open class 2stroke bikes.God knows you don't need nuts to ride those.LOL

The day your dune bike runs a 3.8 in the 100 is the day ill consider you as somebody who knows what the hell they are talking about. Better yet when you run 87 up sand mountain ill consider that your not as dumb as you lead off.
Your ignorance shines right in the beginning. A chassis has little to do with how the motor transfers vibration. Physics has proven that on a 4-axis machine (a quad) the vibration will be much worse then on a 2 or 3 axis machine. Go to class.
Second, your CR500 on gas DOES NOT MAKE 85HP! take it to a dyno and prove me right.
I dont claim to be a badass, but i cant stand people who give out false information.
What i dont understand is you say the vibrations are the worst during an idle. So your saying at 8500rpm when the motor is twisted up and the revolutions are the most extreme you dont feel vibration. But at an idle you do? LOL
But your right on one thing, the motor wasnt built for a quad. Thats why the combination sucks!
Service honda still makes a CR500AF

Dabeechman,
I was just answering a question? My point is chassis are designed by manufacturers to fit a given motor and it's characteristics in an effort to reduce flexing and vibration transfer to the rider . About the trike it is an 1987 CR-500 chassis with the 1986 ATC front and custom swingarm and while it might not be the fastest bike on the hill it can hold it's own and was built just for hill shooting.
