i have a Keihin on my 250R, but i like ESR or FTZ carbs.

 

for 250R- keihin "A/S" carbs are the best imo.

 

I like the PWK's the best for dune riding. I run a 39. I have an airstryker on one bike and there is really no difference. I would not spend the money for it again. But running alcohol go with Lectron. I have found for me that they are the best for a 250r on alky. (I am assuming you are asking about a carb for a 250r/cr motor).

I think the stock carb on cr500's was a 39mm flat slide. If you are running gas, try stock, or a 39pwk, or get it taper bored bigger. But I am NOT the best person to ask about this, since I do not have much knowledge about cr500 motors. Did you have any motor work done on it or is it a stock jug? If it has had motor work, you should talk to your builder and see what he reccommends.

As far as needles go, I run DDJ's and DEJ's. No idea about what you should run. Sorry.

 

I have tried almost all after market carbs and From what I have found Is that Lectrons with the High velocty set up give the best throtle responce and give the best over all Power gains regardless weather or not u are running pump gas or alky. However most people will have better results with the "Normal" carbs Like the PWK's and such. for the simple fact that most people have trouble getting the lectrons jetted properly.

 

not all 2 strokes are the same.. what is your setup and what are you trying to do with the quad...
