Here we go again...What mix and what brand for 99 Banshee?
#1
I just got my first ATV since 86. I need some help figuring out which ratio and which brand of oil I should be using. The previous owner said he used Yamalube @ 32:1. I'm not going to be racing it and there are no engine mods, just pipes and carbs. Compression is good. What (if anything) does the factory recommend?
I know this has been posted before but I couldn't find the posting. :-(

I agree, any good premix will do well for your needs. Just dont go down to the small engine shop and pick up "lawn boy special" two stroker oil!
For what its worth, my MC-1 at 50:1 mixed w/ 112 sunoco supreme has me happy w/ the results, though I am far from stock.
Good luck

The mixing ratio would depend on the mods to the bike itself....as far as a brand, I would recomend Castor927, thats what I run in my banshee, but I run it 50:1 because of the engine mods. Of all the engines I have rebuilt and/or seen rebuilt, those who ran Castor were in the best shape and by far the cleanest.

As far as protection goes, I agree that the castors may offer more, but as far as being clean, well I do not agree. I ran Klotz BeNol, in my YZs that I raced, and thought that they left high amounts of residue on the power valve. (And yes, I run premium race fuel and my bikes are jetted perfect)
Anyway, with a topic like this, there will never be a good answer, since everyone has their own idea of what the best is, my advice is to go and try one, and in the fall when you tear it down, then you will know if its the right oil

i think Castor927 is what most of the pro racers use and it is what i use, but they use it there sponsors give it to them. there was a kawasaki that was smelled very bad (made me feel sick.) not shure what it was gas, oil, engine?
