Vito's Degree Key
Hey I have Vito's 4 degree fly wheel key and I was wondering if anyone out here has ever experienced any problems with these keys, I know over heating can be a problem but that is not one of mine. Idle probs, and throttle probs????????????????????????

The key simpily advances your timing, it shouldn't effect the throttle at all. It might throw your idle off a bit, but that is a simply adjustment.
What kind of problems are you having? |

well i fixed the problem, it turned out that the fly wheel nut came loose and i had an air leak, took care of the prob all togeeether

When ever you get the chance to pull the flywheel off it's always best to check out the crank seal just in case. They can cause some nasty problems if they start sucking air.
Glad to hear you got things sorted out, Shav0 |

well i have checked the crank shaft for any play but how exactly do you truely checl the seal, I appreciate your advice

You should be able to see any damage on the seal. If it is not seated tightly inside the case then it could be sucking air. Check around the inside against the crank and make sure there is no damage or noticable wear. If in doubt you can replace them, they are fairly cheep.

The only problem you run into trying to change the banshee seals is that they have a lip in the middle and are sandwiched between the top and bottom case halves. It's just about impossible to change them without splitting the cases.

Sh!t, Guess you learn somthing new everyday eh? It's weird that yamaha would design it that way, kinda makes for a pain in the azz. All of a sudden a little job like changing a seal becomes a huge job.

Tell me about it. I didn't find out about these seals until after I got my '73 RD 350 running with all new parts on the top half. Couldn't figure out why it was so gutless. Needless to say it now has all new bearings AND seals.

On a 2stroke one side is wet, and the other is dry. Those little suckers can cause a world of problems when you least expect it. I searched for days trying to find out why my quad was smokin so bad and runnin like sh!t when the weather hadn't changed. Come to find out the right side seal was tore right out of its bore and tranny oil was beeing drawn into the crankcase. Who woulda thought?
