mirrors that don't mount on handlebars?

I've currently got one of the Cabella mirrors that mounts on the end of my handlebar. I have a great field of vision with it, but Santa just got me some handlebar mitts that won't fit with the mirror on. I need a rear view mirror in order to be street legal, but the mitts are wonderful for winter riding (it almost never gets above freezing between Nov and March and my cold hands are what cuts my ride time down). Just wondering if anyone has seen or made their own mirrors that mount somewhere other than the handlebars. I'm thinking possibly the front rack?

There are mirrors made to mount on the cowls of snowmobiles.

There are also universal mirrors made for handlebars that mount with a "loop". These could be mounted on the rack with a spacer.

BTW, how did Santa get to your place BEFORE midnight???

Santa used the USPS this year (I don't have a chimney) and since I'm the only one in the house, I changed the rules so I could open my presents early!

I don't know if they are legal but you might try helmet mirrors like bicycle riders use. That is what I'm going to do.

i mounted mine to the left side of the front rack. works ok, and fits the legal requirements for running on the streets in MT. (along with electric horn, reflectors front and rear, brake light, hi &lo beams). might hafta experement to find a place where you can use it.
i like the handlebar end ones like you have, but every so often i gotta squeeze between a couple of trees on off camber trail and they gotta come off to fit. the rack mounted one i can just swing back.
