Is there anywhere I can get rebuilt motors or full aftermarket engine kits for my 89' 250r without buying directly from a private owner?

Any motor builder can build an "Aftermarket motor" with your existing engine. I personally have a Nics Pro-X 330 Cylinder that has been built by Last Rebel Racing in my R. It also has new gears to handle the power, so its basically entirely new. There are Pro-X cyliders available for the 250R in sizes from 250 up to 410, so whatever power you looking for you can basically get from a 250R anymore. If you decide to do something like that research it a bit though, I've heard the 330 is about the most reliable one (even over a built 250) so I went with that. Also bigger doesn't always mean faster, a friend of mine raced the Nationals for CT and he has ran 250's, 310's, 330's, and he now owns a 350, 370, and 410. He runs the 350 in Motocross and either the 370 or 410 in TT's. He said the 370 is actually faster than the 410, but the 410 has more bottom end, so it depends on the track. Also my 330 (which is a short rod instead of a long rod) has more bottom end than his 350, but it is very close top end with his, so I actually like my 330 over his 350 (He likes it also), because its very versitile. He said I would get killed on short tracks with the big bore by 250's. But then he rode it and said that mine will actually work good on short tracks, and it does (I've won every race I wasn't hurt or something didn't break, the motor has yet to miss a beat though). It also has all kinds of top end, enough to place 9th (after crashing, and coming from last) at Red Bud, the fastest Motocross track in the Nationals. In other words there are tons of options available for the 250R, take your pick.

Or are you talking about wanting another engine along with the one you have, in that case many of the salvage yards, like CAL ATV, have take-out engines for sale somtimes.

Hope thats what you were asking,

Sickman
