Rancher 350 head mod's

I heard that four out of five mechanics say that smoking is bad for ATV's. So my 2003 Rancher 350 has committed to quit smoking! Right now he is stripped of his livelyhood (the engine is sitting on my work bench). Looks very sad right now! The oil ring has said good-bye! I learned the hard way! KEEP YOUR AIR FILTER AND BOX CLEAN AND OILED! In the process he will be getting a HL Big bore kit. While I have this thing tore down I was looking for some kind of mod's to the head, mabe porting or longer push rods for more lift or different ratio rocker arms. I noticed that the header is quite a bit larger than the exhaust port. Could I port match it to the header or will that take too much off the head and make it weak. I thought about just polishing the exhaust port a little and clean it up around the valve stem. I don't believe it will take much to get it pretty good (it looks pretty good already). If I cannot do any head mod's it will be okay, I just wanted to know if any mod's have been sucessfully performed. I'm not looking for wild idea's just professional opinion's. Thanks FRED

My Rancher has Warn 3.0 winch, Warn winch bumper, Pro-Circuit slip-on, 2005 Rubicon wheels and tires, and a 1.5 in lift.

P.S. the kit purchased includes the camshaft.

I dont know what kind of money your looking to spend, but you could send your head off to have it professionally ported. You can port match the exhaust port of the head to the exhaust pipe & the same with the intake, but the gains are marginal. (but, every little bit helps) I know on my Warrior. I can get a larger intake valve installed 1mm, but head work isnt cheap. If it were me . I would take the head to a well known michine shop. Have them check the valve guides, & replace if needed, check head surface to make sure its flat, and replace valve seals. For a little exter performance, have them do a 5 angle valve job.
