I have a few motors I'm considering putting in a custom built frame!
1.Suzuki RM250 3.VOR 503 4.KTM 520 5.KTM 380 6.Husaberg 650E What do you all think, which motor. the reasons I chose these motors: RM250-to be different, and to have a "new" 250cc 2-stroke racer VOR 503-because there is already proof it'll work in a quad frame KTM 520-the best 4-stroke ever put on 2-wheels KTM 380-a 380cc 2-stroke, thats the same weight as a 250cc 2-stroke Husaberg 650E-It's counter-balanced |
I'd go with the KTM. They make the most power from what I've heard and are really reliable as long as it is newer than 2000.
I'f I could choose any motor id would be an RZ500 streetbike motor. It pretty much a bigger banshee motor with powervalves. |
hey kodiak01. I agree, KTM's motors put out more HP per weight/cc size than any other. Also, he is right on the year models. Their motors weren't too good until the year 2000. If you stumble across a 2001 380EXC, you should gobble it up!! All the good pipe makers have pipes for the 380, so it wouldn't be very hard to get a custom pipe done.
To dirt817's suggestion: I never have been a fan of bike engines in quads. Like the one in dirt wheels, they usually try to run bike pipes on the quad. THAT'S TACKY!!!! I can't stand them. Sure they've got the speed and power, but they're ugly! The one in DW i was referering to was the Pre-Raptor 660CC motor in a warrior frame with Raptor plastic bolted on. Sure, he had lots of work into it, and he was proud of it, buuuut, it didn't hit home w/me. |
yeah i think i'd most wanna have one of the ktm engines.
