I have a 2000 400EX and I'm wanting to replace the stock exhaust pipe. I do not want a 110 db "eardrum buster". I have been looking at the Supertrapp IDS2 and the FMF Powercore IV-2 silencers. What is the best (& quiet) silencer? Thanks in advance for your help.

 

supposedly the powercore IV squared is quieter than stock. I find it hard to believe. Will be on the phone tomorrow.

 

Did you find anything out? I also find it hard to believe, but I guess anything is possible.

 

got too busy at work today, trying tomorrow. Did go to their website. seems real. www.fmfracing.com What they are doing makes sense to me. I don't know if it is quieter than Honda stock though. If it is a little louder, I will still gladly buy it. I hated how loud my WB Eseries was on my Warrior. Not going down that road again.

 

I'm so excited for this new exhaust. I hope it's for real. Because my dad thinks stock is too loud, I can't get new exhaust unless it's quieter than stock. I will definetly buy the new muffler, and I'll probably get the Power Bomb header for even more performance and less sound (combined with the Power Core IV˛ muffler).

 

Hate to burst your bubble but the FMF Silencer Power COre is LOUD! Buddy just got one last weekend and it is like 95db. You could check out hte Big Gun with the Super Quiet insert w/88db and 5 h.p.

I think Big Gun makes good quiet pipes for four strokes. I'm thinking about getting one for my 300 ex.

 

I checked out the FMF website and it looks pretty good. The square core makes sence since it has more surface area. I'm not to sure about the wing thing though. You are changing the air flow but air flow doesn't have much to do with sound the sound would just go through the wing.
