I have a 86-R, It has always ran good up intill the other day. It died on me, so I checked everything out and it was the spark plug, It was dripping wet, and i have it jetted lean so i new something was wrong. Somebody told me that it might be the head gasket blown letting water into the cylinder and wetting the plug. So i bought a new head gasket but that did not fix it. You can put a new plug in it and it will run for about 30 sec to a min and die. So by now i know that it is gas all over the plug and not water. I got one of my freinds carb off of his R and put on mine, did the same thing so it is not the carb. But when I was taking the first carb off it was alot of gas on the breather side of the carb, would that be the reeds not holding the pressure in and letting it blow back towards the carb. I dont know anything else to do, so if anyone thinks they can help please reply.

When reeds get weak or a piece breaks off, it will blow gas into the airfilter. It will also act boggy until the reeds get so bad to the point yours are at. Pull your buddys reed cage out and try it see if it fixes your problem.

Good ideal, so you think it is my reeds. Becouse, it was gas in the snorkel between the carb and the air filter. That is the only thing i could think of too. I will try and let you know. Every body think the same

I put my friends reeds on it and it did the same thing. Run for about one minute and died, pulled the plug and it was dripping wet with gas.
So does any body else have any other suggestions. I AM ABOUT TO GO CRAZY.....

Can you try your friends carb? Sounds like you have a carb broblem. If you can't, take your carb off & take it apart & clean jets & check bowl & put back on bike.

I have done put his carb on mine and it did not help. It has got to be in the stator or the coil, becouse I have done cleaned the filter, put a different carb and reeds, and it has still not got any better.

Wow! I have always had a stator go out without warning! I am lost. Sorry I could not be of more help. If you find out anything else, let us know. This is blowing my mind.

The stator went out on my Banshee without warning. First it would misfire at WOT, and I messed with the jets and everything, and then one day it just died and would not start. But check the coil, plug wires and caps, and th CDI also

Someone told me today that it could be crankshaft seals leaking, causing it to foul the plugs. He said that happend to one of his buddies. has anyone ever had this happen to them?
