Compatable transmissions?
I finally tore apart my 2001 trailblazer trans well previous owner ran it dry broke the chain inside I was thinking it would be about the same price to buy a used one as to rebuild it. Issue I'm having is what years and makes use the same transmission some people are saying certain ones however if you do a parts number check their differant any suggestions would help

Cost would be less than $60 for the chain and two seals if the bearings and gears are still salvageable! You have to pull the gear case any way if you wanted to replace it with a used one that could be in as bad or worse shape than the one you have! Once you get it out it's fairly simple to repair it. Looks like you're between the rock and proverbial hard place! This tranny looks pretty trashed out,BUT either way you're taking a chance on a used one,but if you can get a used one for $200 worth a try in your case. The running one can't be any worse than the one you've got! OPT

Any idea where I can find a list of compatible models and years

On the simple Trail Blazer(F/N/R gear case you can probably interchange between a couple years forward of the 2001 model and several years backwards(probably up until the mid to late 90's) and should mount up without much difference. Plus you can look here and compare all the years. The numbers may change, but look at the gear case mounting on the breakdowns. This should help you on finding a used gear case. Browse
