'01 Sportsman 400 mechanic help needed

In the process of removing the carb for a rebuild. Don't have a small enough wrench to remove the choke connector on the carb. Can anyone tell me what size wrench is needed to remove the choke cable adapter that is screwed into the carb?

If you don't have a set of thin walled wrenches just take a cheap 14mm wrench and grind the sides of the wrench to where they're straight. Then you have enough room to loosen the nut.

Are you talking about #13 nut that holds the choke Plunger?

Not sure from the picture. It's the adapter that attaches the choke cable to the carb. I was told that some folks had to remove the entire choke cable assembly from the pod and remove the carb with the cable attached to get at it. Seems like it shouldn't be this difficult.

If you have the carb out, just grind a 14mm wrench down flat on the sides enough to reach further on the nut. This is about the only way you can get a firm grip on the choke nut as the carb body itself restricts any regular type wrench from accessing it.I still have one in my tool box I made just for this purpose. If the choke operates ok,just leave the choke assembly attached when you pull the carb out to install the new carb kit. When you pull the top cap off and carb slide out you can pull the choke lever and see if the brass plunger moves back and forth opening and shutting off the choke circuit.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a try.
