New member&new owner with question
Hello people
I'm a new owner of polaris. I have owned other brands before.
I got a new sportsman 550 and have a question about it.When I start it up and get ready to move it will jump or jerk initially. I called the dealler about it and said I thought something maybe needs adjusted. They told me all the 550s do that and there is nothing to be done about it. Never riding a belt drive before it feels like the belt is to loose and it takes the clutch a sec. to tinhten up. Does anyone know of this. Is the dealler correct or is there somthing that can be done? I really like the bike and it"s not really a big problem.
Thanks Steve
I have read here for hours and did'nt find anything like this.

Welcome to the forums.
My guess (and that's what it is) would be something to do with the clutching. If it was used, I'd wonder if someone changed the springs. If this is your first automatic, it may be something you have to get used to, but it shouldn't be jerking motion unless you're really gassing it.
I'm sure OPT will read this, and he'll have the correct answer for you.
If he can't tell you what's wrong with it, then it's not broken.

That was one of the first things that I noticed about the 550 and 850 when they first came out was the initial jerk on clutch engagement, plus the higher idle speed versus the other models. It takes a little getting used to it,but is a great machine. There are a few 550 owners on the forum that I'm sure will give you there input on their machines after putting some time on them. Again welcome to the forum. OPT
