I have a 2003 Sportsman 600-great machine for plowing. The problem now is the ignition spark comes on once and stops. The Ducati 40107985 controller seems to be the problem. Do I need to use the retro kit 2202603. The dealer has the Ducati part available.

 

Welcome to the forum! Get the kit! DO NOT,I REPEAT, DO NOT let the dealer con you in buying left over Ducati ignition parts!! Let him try to pawn them off on someone else! The controller may work for awhile,but then the stators fry also,then you're stuck!! I was dizzy for awhile replacing both of em(at the customers expense) until the Kokusan kit came along and solved the problem! Should have been a recall I know,but wasn't! You might pass this on to the dealer about how much they fail(which if he's smart,he already knows!),but Polaris won't reimburse him and he's going to get rid of it one way or another to at least get his money back! Bite the bullett. Buy the new kit it will solve the igniton problems. Not a real hard install as long as you can get the flywheel off. That was the hardest part for me. Take your time and follow the instructions. I just did the replacement a few months back.......

 

i have the kokusan ignition on my polaris 700 and it seems to be running extremly hot ...... i cant keep my leg on the side of bike due to the heat coming from exhaust and i burned through almost a tank of gas in a few hours just riding dry dirt trails no mudding .... can someone please help me figure out whats going on with my bike
