Default 2001 magnum 325 2x4/trail boss

Hi to everyone. First post here. Hope I am in the right section. I have 2001 magnum 325 2x4 torn down to pieces. Crankshaft I believe. It has been sitting for a while and now I found a 2001 trail boss 325 2x4 with good engine. He says transfer case cracked though. He said he dropped the transmission and the engine should be easy to get at. Would this engine fit in my magnum? Much modification? Any insight would be awesome. Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

I know OPT will be able to give you the optimum answer on this, but as far as the motors go, I do believe they were the same. Can't remember if the magnums for that year were shaft drive or not. That may be an issue if the were.

OPT will be able to give you the scoop on it all.

Welcome to the forums! Scootergptx is correct, the only difference is the rear drive systems, and the transmissions. Magnums are shaft driven to where the Trail boss is chain driven. The engine and mounting should be the same. Some early 2001 model 325 engines had soft rod bearings which might be what happened to your engine?? I had several that ate the bearings up and crankshaft. If you hear any noise in the used engine STOP! May have to check out the crank in it also and possibly replace the bearings(easy to do,just like a car rod, crank doesn't have to be split) Hopefully it will be ok! Good luck! OPT

Default Not so bad

I believe my magnum is shaft drive. So you are saying it should fit. Just more time with the shaft vs. chain drive?

Engine and mounting is the same on both the Trail Boss and Magnum!! Only the transmissions and rear drives are different, but engine will bolt right up! Really no difference in time, that is if you didn't pull your transmission too! OPT
