Default Xplorer 300 - Front Diff ?

I noticed a chart someone posted that shows to change out this fluid annually....about 150ml. Okay, my question is I got under the quad and noticed what looks like a drain plug on the front differential (gear box)...or whatever you call this part....it's where the two front axles come together and are turned by the chain and sprocket coming from the tranny.

Where is the fill plug?

The last Explorer 300 was in 1999 and all are chain driven,NO front differentials! You have a front eccentric housing that has a grease fitting on the right hand side(as you are facing the atv) You only have transmission fluid, oil tank, and fuel tank. You have several grease fittings on these machines along with keeping the chains adjusted and lubricated. A cheap Clymer manual will show you how to adjust, grease and fluids that the machine requires! OPT

thanks......i just converted over from a polaris atv forum and I've gone days without any responses to my posts....I come onto this website and have everything answered within hours.....NICE!

Yes, this xplorer is a 98 and I will grease up ALL the fittings. I tightened the main rear wheel chain the other day before we went deep into the woods.

This is an interesting quad being 2 stroke, belt driven....almost sounds like a snowmobile.

Polaris atvs have been around since 1985 started out on the atvs selling mostly out of farm and ranch stores until the late 80's(at least down here,my dealership was one of the first in the DFW area,1987) snowmobiles since about 1953 or 54 (not much use for them down here! OPT
