Default polaris predator 50 losing 12v

i ahve a 2006 polaris predator 50 2 stroke. Battery died about a year ago. i finally purchased new battery and spark plug. started up and my son drove it around for about 1/2 hour. turned off for a minute, go to start it again and nothing. noticed that brake light was not coming on when i pulled break or horn would not work. i checked battery had 13v. started lookng for loose connections and could not fine anything noticable. tried again about an hour later and the thing started. shut it off tried again and nothing. i do not have a schematic and before i start dimantling the body to get to all electrical componenets i did not know if anyone had any ideas ot ran into something similar
Thank you

Could be intermittent problem with the brake/starter interlock cable on the left hand brake. When you tun the key on and pull the hand brake the brake light should come on. If not it wont crank either. Has a plastic plunger that gets easily damaged or worn down. Part #0451090 OPT

The horn should work, but if the brake light is intermittent the starter wont engage and the starter interlock switch may need to be replaced (I replaced a bunch of these plastic plunger switches). You also could have a short in the left control switch or in the horn itself.A simple test light to the horn hot wire can show if it's in the wiring or the horn itself. Plus check if there is a screw and nut adjuster on the back of the horn (can't remember if it's like the old street bike horns where you can adjust the pressure on the horn diaphragm ) Plus you can jump the wires on the starter interlock switch to see if the starter works, but the brake light will stay on constantly.
