update 4x4 disengage
update hi i have a 2006 500 efi sportsman the 4x4 will not disengage i tested the switch,,ok i removed the front diff, the roll cage is perfect,, the armature plate is flat,,good condition.not magnetized..the coil powered up grabs very good.when the coil is powered off,the coil is still slightly magnetized. i tested it and it reads 27 ohms.also the coil seems quite slow to release the armature could this be the problem.any input will be appreciated.

Coil is slightly outside resistance limit of 25 ohms, but may or may not be the problem. I always replaced armature plates when ever any hub system or centralized system was taken apart for the simple fact that they can become magnetized themselves over time. IF mine I'd still chunk the plastic roll cage for an aluminum one. Some may have hairline cracks that are barely visible and can break or shatter later on. Knowing what I know now about them I sure wouldn't put it back in.Plenty of billet aluminum ones on ebay like this one that will last. 2004 06 Polaris Sportsman Ranger 500 Aluminum Differential Roll Cage Sprague | eBay
