Always check the simple things first like the spark plug and for spark and that the carb is getting fuel. May be as simple as a fouled plug. If that doesn't help, then retrace your steps.

Now there is intermittent spark to the plug. Researching shows me there was a problem with the wire and Polaris issued a Service Bulletin?? How hard is to pull the whole wire?

Can't remember all service bulletins, but just get this manual and go through the electrical trouble shooting steps along with the resistance checks on the stator, etc. After all this time don't think Polaris would honor any service bulletin unless it was a safety recall..https://www.tradebit.com/filedetail....service-repair You could pull the flywheel and clean the stator and pick up coil first to see if that helps. If it doesn't get the manual.

The wire going into the cap was loose and only one strand was available. I stripped it and exposed 1/2 inch of wire and "screwed" it back in. It started immediately. The spark plug was pretty black. That could be because it is running rich. Could it also be because my spark was so weak too?

Then just get a new plug.Make sure the plug cap is secure and ride it. You can do a plug chop, that is kill the engine at speed, stop quick and check the color of the plug. Should be a tan to medium brown color if everything's right.

And now it is leaking fuel out of the nipple on the bottom of the carb.

Either fix the leak OR 1/2 stick of dynamite and a long fuse. Be sure to post the video...
