Solenoid clicks but machine wont start (first timer)
Hey Guys! I have a 2007 Sportsman 800 ATV that I am having troubles with and any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!! When I turn the key, the solenoid clicks and machine will not turn over. As soon as I jump the solenoid the machine starts no problem. I have went through the machine and checked all ground connections, replaced battery and it tested great. As soon as I jump the solenoid, the machine runs great and have no issues at all but it is getting to be a pain when I have to jump the solenoid every time I use it. Has anyone else had an issue like this?
Thanks in advance!!

Sounds like you need a new 8 buck solenoid.Starter Solenoid Relay Polaris SPORTSMAN 800 2007-2012 NEW | eBay As long as the solenoid clicks you have power to it. The internal switch is probably melted and wont allow power to be jumped to the starter cable side. Jumping the posts is just bypassing the solenoid.

Make sure all connections are tight on the battery and solenoid and loosen the 10mm bolt on the starter cable and wiggle it around and retighten. Then next step is to make sure the battery is up to snuff. May handle a direct short to the solenoid to start it,but may not have enough power be able to go through the solenoid then to the starter. Load test will tell if it's ok even if it's a new battery. If the battery checks out then, could be the small power wire on the solenoid needs to be traced back to the switch. Could be either a wire problem or the switch itself.

I am having a similar issue with my 1996 polaris xplorer 300. new battery, new solenoid, new starter, but the switch just buzzes/clicks rapidly when i press it. Starts fine with pull cord. tried different batteries, changed solenoid. when i try to jump it directly with a screwdriver on solenoid it barely sparks and sounds like the battery is immediately draining and no more clicking is heard from solenoid. Any ideas on this? I have checked the connections and everything is snug.

Sounds like you have a new faulty solenoid.Try another one.Starter Solenoid Relay POLARIS XPLORER 300 4x4 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 ATV | eBay Aftermarket Chinese parts are sometimes hit or miss. If a new solenoid doesn't solve the problem, could be a left control switch.
