The throttle cable doesn’t have adjustment at the carb end? But if it did I don’t think it would help with my issue. The other black sheath around the cable vibrates up and out leaving just the cable exposed and causing the high idle. I did verify the connection for the black wire from the cdi to the kill switch, how does that provide a stop signal. The key switch won’t kill it because it is basically being used just to power the fan and headlights. Previous owner rewired that after a wreck, the headlight pod was destroyed.... all I have is a key switch zip tied to the handle bars.

Yes there isn't adjustment on the the BST34 carb, was thinking of the two stroke carbs. If you can't take enough adjustment from the throttle end of the cable adjuster and still just have 1/8" slack at the throttle lever, then cable replacement may be needed. Black wire from the cdi grounds the spark by way of the ignition switch or left control switch. Sounds like you need a new ignition switch or rewire what the previous owner destroyed. If the left control switch is wired correctly though the on/off switch should also kill power by itself regardless of the ignition switch. If it doesn't then it may need to be replaced also.

I’ve got the wiring diagram, but the wiring is cut and spliced so much I can’t track what is missing or spliced to prevent the kill switch from working. Would there be anything wrong with putting a toggle switch in the pulse coil circuit to have a way to kill the engine? That’s how I’ve been shutting it off, just undoing that plug for the pulse coil.

Rather than keep going at this thing one damaged wire after another, might be to your benefit to get a used harness complete with connectors and NO cut wires as the ad shows. Plus has a make an offer also. See if he'll take 45 bucks or so and get this thing back right..https://www.ebay.com/itm/Polaris-Spo...VaAkRP&vxp=mtr

Problem is when the P.O. wrecked it the handlebar pod was destroyed....so, I’m missing several electrical components....Speedo etc, judging by the wiring diagram they all share a common ground

All the major grounds tie into the lower coil mounting bolt. It'll run ok without the speedo plus depending on how far you want to get this thing back in shape, used pods are out there also. Just the color is the difference on these models that use the same upper and lower pod prefix number. Possible you can find a good set in your color.
