2007 500 EFI - torn boot on steering rack.
On my new to me Ranger the DS steering rack boot was torn open. No idea how long it's been torn. PS side in undamaged. The inner tie rod end looks clean and full of grease and the rack and pinion look dusty but not covered in crud. New boots are on the way.
My question - When I replace the boots should I grease the rack and pinion or reassemble it dry? If it needs grease is there a "special" type Polaris wants or any old GP grease will do?
Thanks

Like cars the boots are mainly to protect the shaft from dirt/water damaging the gear box seals and are dry.The steering box has the fluid.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
