2007 Ranger 700 Harsh clutch engagement
Hello all, I have a 2007 Ranger 700efi that has a really harsh engagement. Seems like its slow to engage and the snap! it just kicks in. I've heard that having the wrong belt can cause this so I'm thinking I may just swap it out. Any suggestions on the best belt to use? Its just general use, light trails, plowing. Stock size tires but they are Mudzillas which make it seem like a size taller.
I did replace the belt when I first got the machine as the belt it had was missing teeth. I don't remember the part # I used but it was a Polaris belt and I got a good deal on it as it was an old discontinued part # but was told it was the correct belt for that unit.

Use the oem belt.. 3211106 is replaced by 3211130. Not cheap, but you shouldn't have problems with it. Check around on price.Plus a good idea to blow out the belt dust from the clutches in an open area. It will create a dust storm.https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Polaris...9SdrZ-&vxp=mtr

Thanks. I my dealer was closed when I tried to call and I wanted to get the Ranger back together to do some plowing. So I just went with it anyway. Good to hear though that it's correct. I was a bit worried as it was the same dealer that originally gave me the 118 belt.
End result is that the new belt solved my harsh engagment issue. Way better now. Anyone else that has a similar problem may want to look at their belt.

Why this model had sooo many belt changes I do not know..Possibly because they kept experimenting with different ones that would last? Still no definite idea who makes them for Polaris,no engineer would ever tell me.Possible they didn't know. Either Gates or Dayco would be my guess. Even this site would juast guess.
"No company gives away the secret of who manufactures parts for them. Some performance shops believe that Mitsubishi manufactures the stock Polaris belt. Polaris does claim the stock replacement belt with Kevlar cord is built to the tightest tolerances of any belt and that it doubles the life span of aftermarket belts. The stock belt is almost universally praised for its longevity, but it is more expensive than even the most high-end aftermarket belts."
