Polaris has a great motor in the 425 Expedition, we have one and it is a fine machine.
I know Polaris used to make a 425 Magnum, but it was a 3 chain drive nightmare-and was discontinued. Now Polaris makes two underpowered over-chasised models, the 325 Magnum 4x4 and the 335 Sportsman. If they put the 425 into these two models, they would have two real mid-size winners. The 425 deserves an EBS autotranny, at least as an option Silly Later, Fourlix Arctic Cat 500 Auto,Polaris 425 Expedition, Polaris 325 Magnum 2x4 |

I definetly agree that Polaris should not have discontinuted the 425 in an automatic version. I own a 98 Magnum 425 4x4 with the three chains. It is a great machine, but we will see how the chains hold up in the long haul. The 425 has plenty of power and was a little lighter than the 500 version. Mine will do 53 mph on a road. If Polaris wants to dominate the market, it needs to offer all of its 4 cycle engines in both automatic and manuals transmissions. |
I LIKE THAT 425 MOTOR.I HAD A 425 MAGNUN.ID LIKE TO SEE THIS.

We have had two 425 Xpeditions on the floor since July "99". We will sell at dealer cost. Had a dealer a couple of thousand miles from here tell me he cant sell them either. Everyone want the auto. I for one think the 5 speed is an excellent machine. Polaris is kind of slow announcing anything new this year, I think you will see a lot of changes.

I agree on the 425 motor would be a good addition to the Sportsman lineup. I got to test drive 2 sportsmans one day after a club ride. The SP335 that under powered for its weight. The SP500 on the other hand, had power plus some.
I have driven a Honda 450, Yamaha Grizzley, & Sportsman. The Sportsman had the best ride off the 3. |
