What's my ATV worth?
About a year ago I bought a 2003 Sportsman 700. I thought at the time that I'd use it a lot, but in the last year it hasn't seen much use. Not nearly enough to justify what I spent on it. So, I'm considering selling my ATV and my trailer, but don't really know if I could get enough back out of them to make it worthwhile. Here's what I've got:
ATV: - 2003 Sportsman 700, Silver/black - About 500 miles, give or take, in good condition - 5 year Polaris extended warranty, about 4 years left - Warn A2000 winch - Front bumper/brush guard - Rear bumper - Rear cargo box - Swisher ATV accessories mount kit - Swisher ATV plow - Swisher ATV bucket - Swisher "Deer Hauler" trailer - Nice Polaris helmet Trailer: - 2002 12' Triton Elite tandem axle trailer - Top of the line aluminum trailer - Will haul 3 ATV's comfortably - For more specs see http://www.tritontrailers.com/snowspecchart.pdf, model # is Elite 12VR-101-2 So the magic question is, what could I expect to get for this if I sold it? I see 2003 SP700's going on Ebay for around $6000 with few or no accessories. All of the Polaris accessories weren't cheap (between $500-$1000, I'd have to check), the 5 year warranty was over $800 I think, and all of the Swisher stuff was close to $1000 as well. The trailer was around $2300 with tax, I think. I know I'm not going to get what I put into it back out of it, but what do you guys think I could expect to get if I decide to sell it? No Polaris bashing, please, just honest answers. |

I would try $7500 - 8000 for all.

What's my ATV worth?
Yeah, I saw the Blue Book for the ATV (retail) was about $6200, but that doesn't include any of the accessories nor does it take into account the extended warranty. I know what I paid for that stuff new but I don't know how much to expect if I sell it. Plus I don't know what I could get for the trailer. Someone I know said I should sell that separate during snowmobile season as it would probably sell quickly. It's actually a snowmobile trailer, but has special ATV tiedown hooks.
Anyone else, thoughts...? |
What's my ATV worth?
I hate to say it but once you purchase all those accessories you have to bite the bullet and accept they will not be worth much at selling time unless you are lucky enough to find someone willing to pony up the extra money.
The items purchased will need to be discounted 50% to 75% and then it still will be a hard sell. ChetRacer |

My opinion is to take all the accessories off and sell them on eBay. You'll get alot more that way than if you sell them on the atv. And like your friend said, sell the trailer as a snowmobile trailer and you'll have no trouble selling that. Even now, sledheads are getting the itch. Go here:Amsnow and post the trailer on the swap meet forum and see what kind of interest it generates. It's free.
