400 sportsman Info/quality info

Hi all, i have been void from these forums for a few years, but when I was here I was riding a Polaris xplorer 300, a close friend a 400 xplorer, we both had numerous quality issues, (mine a 96, his a 00), weak tierods, starters getting wet, belt problems, numerous bushing replacements. etc..
This weekend, my wife and I visited a polaris store for fun, and became really interested in the 04 400. I know its not the fastest 400 utility out there, im more interested in the comfort of it. Im glad to see they gpt those dang Rawhides off of it for 04.
Anyway, How has the quality been coming along, can I still expect my tierods/ball joints to be loose after 2 weeks, are the starters sealed better? What about all the bushings that continually loosend up, is that pretty well not an issue anymore?
any input appreciated, I plan to buy this week.
Thank You

Ron Heater

P.s When I was on here, the was a good ole fellow named Gordon Banks, very helpful, Is he still around?

Since you had your bikes, the Sportsmans now have improved:
Tie rod ends
Center steering post bushing
brake pads
brake lines
heavier tie rods
lifetime warrantied spliceless belt
improved belt cover & seals (more heat resistant-won't warp)
Improved snorkeling
all shaft drive with CV joints at all sharp angles
new permanently-lubed chassis joints (some guys still feel better knowing you can add fresh grease)
starter on the top of the engine instead of bottom, water stays out better

I am sure there is more, but as a rule, the 2001+ Sportsmans have been very well built.

And if you never rode an IRS machine, you are in for a BIG treat - the difference is amazing!
