Scrambler 400, 2-stroke timing?

A buddy of mine has a 400ex and he's been looking at a crank key that advances his timing 6 degrees and is supposed to boost performance. This seams like an inexpensive way to get a little more out of the motor, can this be done on a 2-stroke?

The ignition timing on the 400 2 stroke is adjustable, although I don't think you are going to notice a lot with a few degrees advance. You would see more with a K&N, jet kit, and exhaust change.

Actually the 400 has enough timing at stock setting. The race mods usually retard the timing a bit to help with top end. You can advance 2 degrees with alcohol, but otherwise it should be left alone.Bubba
