Default Shock Covers. Are they just of looks or what

Do these shock covers I see on eBay serve a purpose or are they just for looks? My riding is mostly in the mud. Anybody had any comment on this item?

Hey big dawg if you do mainly just mud then ya you need them as if you are hitting it hard and heavy for the day they will help keep from the mud packing in your springs and jackin with your strut. They arent that expensive so I would recommend them.

Be aware of the Ebay ones. I would recommend the Pure Polaris. They are a perfect fit, whereas I have heard the a lot of the aftermarket covers don't fit right

they do keep the mud out and such..however, there one downfall is they'll take the paint off your springs. At least mine did on my pred!

Well worth the cost. Just don't get some real thick ones that will keep the shocks from "breathing"....

Like the others stated, there's a fine line in application. Slow technical ridding, they'll actually heat up the shocks. If you have areas where you can get your speed up periodically, that helps. Also, make sure to frequently take them off and clean them. All I do, is spray both sides with Jungle Jake (same as Simple Green) let them sit for a bit, then hose them off. Stick with the name brands of Pure Polaris, Shockwears (Hot Seat sells them), or the HPD units. You get what you pay for in a quality, durable product. Nascarfan: I bought a set of those and they fit just fine, however, I dont have anythng to compare them to. I havent gone on a ride yet so I cant really tell ya how they hold up but they seem well made and she pretty much backs her stuff up (so she says anyway).

Well.... I won the auction. Only one that bid. That make you wonder if they are worth the price. I guess for $33 if they don;t work out i'll get over it. Thanks for all the feedback.
