the bottom oil lines on my pred wont stop leaking.. the flange doesnt sit tight against the motor and i dont know why.. the flanges arent bent or anything... they just dont fit... but i guess i just wanna know if there is any type of sealer than i could put on them to get em to stop leaking...? it prolly has to be a high heat silicone or something.. just wonderin if ya'll had some ideas.

but if any1 has an idea to get em to sit flat or maybe have had this problem too and have info would be great also..

Is there any way to snap a photo of what your talkin about? I don't own one, but we might all be able to figure something out if we can see it.

I had the same problem here. I took it into my dealer and had it worked on. The problem that he found besides being of poor design is that the hose to the flange was too long. Since the bolt holding the flange on is on the side away from the tank this created a kind of lifting pressure on the bracket pulling the flange away from the crankcase, And if the flange is tightened too much it is possiable to bend it slightly, causing the clamping surface of the flange to bend, making the surface un-flat. This is possiable with the crankcase as well.

I would check your hoses, then check to see if the flange and crankcase surface are flat. If not replace the hose, flange and seals.

Good luck

ya its doing exactly that... maybe my flanges are bent a lil.. i didnt think they were... as for a picture.. there isnt much to see... just a gap between the flange and the motor.

buying new hoses?? no way.. it would be 70$, id "jerry" rig it before i spent that kinda money on 2 hoses that worked perfeclt fine before they came off... but thanks for the replies...

do you think shimming out the bolt side of the flange would work?

No the shims are not going to work. If anything filling down the surface to flat is probably your best bet. BUT watch out for the fillings, you don't want them getting into the lines.

Btw, have you had any trouble with your big gun slip on. I was about to buy one when a friend told me they had a tendency to rust easy on the inside. And does it give much help to the bottem end of the powerband.

He shortened the hose from the oil tank to the front flange and replaced the seal and bushing inside.
