If the vent tube for the fuel tank is stopped up the shut down time will vary with the amount of fuel to air ratio inside the tank (ie full tank = shorter time, less air volume, 1/2 full tank = longer time, more air volume).
A defective ignition coil will stop firing once it heats up, then after it cools down the windings inside will make contact again and allow the coil to fire once more.

So it must sit overnight to re-start? Or will it re-start right away? After 5-10 minutes? over an hour? Does it vary from failure to failure? When it dies, does it give any warning or just die all at once?
There may be help on this forum for you, but we need more info!

Start & drive it around until it dies (stay close to home LOL). Now loosen the gas cap. Does air try to 'woosh' in (if you listen carefully you may hear it). If so, the vent is clogged. Usually, when this happens, after a while, it will start, when the vacuum in the gas tank gets equalized, but it has to crank a while, or, after loosening the gas cap, will start once the fuel pump gets re-primed.
It can also be the coil windings going bad. When they get hot, you lose spark. Usually, when this happens, it just won't start until it cools off. Once it is cooled down good, it starts like it always did.
My guess would be the coil. Usually, a plugged fuel vent shuts you down in 10 min or less, unless the fuel tank is low, giving you a big air pocket.
