Default egt's temp race mod 400

got finally a first season try after some tweaking in the garage,,
it is a brand new 020 over with hot rod,,temp was at 1180 at the midrange,,but at my surprise WOT temp was AT 860?!that mean it was too pig rich on the main, the race pipe require less fuel on top end cauze of the very efficient powerband it offer,,again i say hail to HPD to built such mods that run so well together and smooth,,i wanna known what id the wot temp you're running at?,,,i should run it at 1200.
the race pipe need a fat pilot jet too,it take me a 65 up here to not bog down the motor on the lean side,,all this is read on a digatron egt's probes.
i must be the sikest scram owner to have removed to whole front brake system to save rolling resistance and weights,,but it's for flat dirt road only,,i don't suggest the thing on a regular trail machine.
later,thannks.

Almost everyone here runs a 35 pilot jet with the 39PWK .My temps were 1100 to 1200 WOT.and midrange was around 850 to 900.This was with the B8ES plug gapped to .18.I have my front brakes removed also.

To go along with CED's tips, don't swear by the EGT. Use it in conjunction with reading the plug color. The two sources for reading your mixture will help you get it in the sweet spot.

yes alright,i like to fine tune with the digatron, plugs reading is as well the main check, but it is more sensitive to determine with av gas,,i found,,plug gapped 19-20 with br9es,engine stay cool after a 30 min blast,,timing help a lot,CED,why are you just running 800 in the midrange?
with a 35 pilot jet up here, engine need to run on full choke all the way through...
doesn't gas your wiseco pistons before it reach at least 500 degree at idle, those iron need special attention warm up,in the long run (after brake-in)it will fine seals the rings and help to maintain longevity.
yes that pretty cool with the brakes but ride safe, stay alert.

I tried the BR9es' once, after about 15 min. I was back to the 8's. Stayed w/ them ever since.

Funny Ken, I couldnt keep a 9 in my gas race mod for any reason very long. Even being jetted correctly it would foul out riding the dunes. The 8 is great.

Yo I had the same problem Br9es nw i have used 8es all the time.

The digatron is a great tool to have.It has saved me from burning up my quad many times. Keep In mined though that It can go bad.I had all kinnds of problems with setting up my digatron.I had stray voltage messing up my readings.
Also I'm not so sure that it is a flawless Reading even when it is working right.I once was in a race and was reading temps of 1350 and The quad didn't burn up,And I think it should have at that temp. What I'm trying to tell you is NOt to realie on it to much ,even though It has saved my quad.
Oh yah,1200 won't burn it up, i push 1300 all the time and my HPD race kit Top end has lasted over a year. That is with many hours of race time on it.Go BEAT IT,YOU HPD'd IT!! THE HPD RACE KIT IS THE ****.

Thanks
matt
