not to bash my polaris cuz i love the thing but i dont think it will beat a rincon... my bud jake has a rincon and we are even or i am just little big slower.. i know for a fact that the rincon is no faster top end then my sportsman and that will only do 58 or 60 on a warm day, i would have to say the rincon does about 60 and not 1 mph faster

I was shopping around with my cousin to get him a quad and when we went to the honda dealer the salesman was telling us that the rincon has a top speed of like 55 and he was happy about it, I replied with "thats it, my sportsman 700 EFI does 70plus" he was kinda shocked that I said it but damn it's the truth ya know. besides the whole speed thing, the sportsman series are a much better bang for the buck in my mind cause they have more ground clearance, better indepentant suspion, sporty looks, great ride/comfort, and a cheaper price tag. don't get me wrong I like the rincon I just don't see what more you'd be getting by spending more money for it. whether you go with a sp500 or an sportsman twin you'll be happier in the long run because you will have saved well over $2000 between the two atv's. you could take the money you save and get a plow, winch, bumpers, tire/wheel package and plenty of gas to haul ya around.

Keep in mind, LIKE polaris, where people will claim anywhere from 5-10 MPH difference in top speed on similar models, the Honda is the Same. The Rincon came from Honda Jetted Notoriosly Rich, Much Like my 04 Sportsman. While People were saying that the average top speed on the 400 sportsman was only 50 MPH.. With Proper Jetting and clutch alignment etc.. Mine was 60 Plus..
So It is not unbelievable for someone to say that one RIncon only does 57 mph while another does 65.

I'd agree on the Polaris. Because of the PVT design, small differences in shims, springs, belt width, etc can make substantial differences in top speed. Because the Rincon has a hydraulic torque converter, I would think they would be a lot more consistent and not easily modified (although there are always variances). And, with product liability laws as they are, I'm sure Honda has geared them for a speed of around 55 as have other manufactuers. That's one of the cool things about Polaris. They can easily be modified to fit your needs.

how do u get your sportsman to go faster with proper jetting?? im going 55 and u can hear the tranny is opened all the way and my engine runs all the way up to 6800 or 7000 right around 60 mph i dont know how it would go any faster with proper jetting i mean it would have to be in tranny and clutch mods

Polaris500HO4X4,
you have to remember that every machine is different. Some just come faster or slower from the factory. I remember Rick Ritter saying that a bunch of polarises are like that. The older 500's will hit 60. I think someone mentioned before that the 04's and newer have a different helix, so that results in the less top end but more bottom-end power.

Proper Jetting alone isnt going to really Increase your speed, It will increase acceleration! However, making sure belt alignment, and deflection is spot on, WILL ! If your just off a Little bit, in alignment, or deflection, then your not getting 100 percent effeciency at full shift out. The Orange Heelclicker I have in now is only good for 55 MPH . Dont take for granted, that just because your machine is Brand new, it's perfectly adjusted from the factory. My deflection was WAY off from the factory, so was My alignment. very FEW Polaris Machines come from the dealer with the clutching working to it's full potential.

I own both machines in question. While I haven't topped it out on a nice flat land officially, (Sportsman 500) I have done it on flat road for the Rincon and there is NO, ZERO, Not A Chance in hell, of the Rincon, stock, that is, doing 70. I have watched it on speedo, on GPS and it hits about 55, give or take. With the Flame Arrestor out and the K&N and jet kit, I am maybe doing about 58 and that is when the road is flat asphalt.
