Default Sp500 Plow Question

I have the 60" Glacier on the sportsman and I love it. I have fabricated a snow deflector for the top and it works fine. Pushed 12" of snow last year with no problems.

This plow system is the quickest and easiest to hook up. I can pull up to the plow and have it operational in about 60 seconds with no manual labor. Real nice.

In reference to the 48 or 60. When plowing deep snow, you will need to angle the plow. When you angle the 48, you will be driving over snow. This not only makes a mess of the area that you just plowed, it also will pack the wet stuff and make it hard to move. I also plow side walks with the 60. I have not had any problems there. Well...except for the neighbors flower pots that I ran over. OOOPPPS

Default Sp500 Plow Question

The glaciers a good setup but remember one thing - If you plan on keeping the mounting plate on year around as I do you'll need to cut a hole in it to change you front hub fluid if you have a central hub as in the 600 and up(I'm not sure about the 500's).
Other than that I added a long steel rod to the blade with a cable attached to the angle release so I don't have to get off to change the angle.

I opted for a full winch setup. The Blade-mounted electric lift should lift and lock the blade just fine.,but I really cant help you there. Probably you need to attach your anchor point of the lift strap higher?

Default Sp500 Plow Question

lovemud,
Thanks for the tip on the front diff hole!!! We tend to get tunnel vision by concentrating only on the immediate project. I appreciate your advice. My first thought was that I would remove the plate to drain diff, but once I saw how tight the mounting plate bolt clearance was, I drilled a large hole in the mount plate. I: think it would be nice if Polaris thought this far ahead. :-)
