Display has ERROR on '02 700. What's this ?
Recently, after an afternoon of riding, I noticed that my display had a big E readout on it while I was in high gear. I shifted into low and got the usual (L) reading, same with neutral (N) and (P) for park. Going from one gear to another made no difference, everytime I shifted back into high, the E message came up on the display. I assume that this is an error message, but I can't figure out what the error is.
I called my local dealer and he was at a loss as to what it might be, but said he would get back to me. Until he does, has this happened to any of you other riders? Got any ideas as to what it might mean? It seems to run fine, but I'm afraid of doing some damage if I ride it with an error on the display. Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated! XMARINE |

on page 57 of the error filled owners maunual it states that "E or blank=Error- most of the time, this error message will indicate you are inbetween gears, it can also indicate the trans switch is broken."
i may also add your linkage may be off and need adjustment. |

Pooboy2...You da man! I unhooked the battery post and sure enough the computer reset itself. Now, the display reds out a big H when I'm in high gear. Why didn't I think of that?
That sorry service tech at the dealer never did return my call. Thank goodness for this forum! XMARINE |

My 02' 700 does it in park. I have to roll the machine a little to get it to "read P" in park. My buddy is a mechanic, he took off side panel and tightened to bolt that connects to transmission. The linkage was a little bent too, have someone check your shifting lever connections for bends...
