Replace ball joint

I have a 2000 model 325 magnum 4wd, I cannot get the ball joint housing out of the strut housing. Does anyone know how to do this. My ball joint wore out and I am trying to replace it. It looked pretty easy but now I am finding out that it is a job. Thanks ahead of time.

When I did mine, I popped the ball joint off the a-arm and removed the backing plate. Then I put the nut back on somewhat loosely. I then used a torch to heat up the balljoint while at the same time useing a prybar on the a-arm to seperate the a-arm from the strut. Since the bolt is still on, it will pull the ball joint right out with it. When you go to put the new one back in. Put it in the freezer for awhile to get it really cold. If you get the strut hot it will also expand the opening. Then put a little silicone spray ont he ball joint and use a large socket to press it back in.

once you take the 2 screws that hold the retainer plate off, hook a slide hammer to the ball joint and it will pop right out, thats if you have a slide hammer..

My ball fell out so there is no bolt to attach anything to. My A-ARM fell off.
